spin pins

I bought Goody Spin Pins the other day. I heard rave reviews on my favorite youtube tutorials, and as someone who rarely does anything but a messy bun - I couldn't resist.

My hair is down to my butt. I didn't really expect they'd be anything but additional support, but they definitely do the job.

there are dozens of ways to do a bun - up, down, double, twisted, braided, and any number of complicated braids in any number of numbers. Anyways, the point is - this is just as easy as a messy bun, and much more put smoothed out and put together.

Pictures of the coat

Now, you'll have to forgive the outfit I'm wearing under the coat. Today has been a rather dreary day for which I've dressed with comfort in mind. But crocs and socks aside, the coat is amazing. My beau took the photos for me, he's an absolute doll.

The photo will open the picasa web album in a new window or tab when you click on it.

If you have any questions, just leave me a comment!

In the mean time, I'm waiting on my Doc Martens to arrive in the mail. I'm going back to school one tough chicky!

Winter Coats? But it's August!

I recently purchased a coat online. Why? I'm thinking about school, and I know how bitter Buffalo can be.

Last year, the temperatures really didn't seem low on the television. We didn't have many days below 20f, but the wind was always biting and every moment outside was excruciating, and I remember huddling with my boyfriend for warmth.

I had a coat that looked good, but wasn't thick at all. I did have a [presumably] faux fur hoody sweatshirt I wore with everything - it's amazingly warm. But the two items together were bulky, and lugging them everywhere on campus was irritating. Plus, that pretty thin coat didn't make it through the winter - the sleeves are falling off, as are the non-functional buttons.

This year, I chose something much more functional, significantly less attractive, and I think less expensive. It's an army surplus coat - which fits fall's military trend, though I expect most girls on campus will stick to the expensive and not tremendously functional wool pea coats I see every year.

An army surplus government issue "Extreme cold weather parka."

I love the coat, personally. It's fairly heavy, but it's down to my knees as well. It comes with detachable liner, as well as a pretty epic hood.

There's a wire in the hood, and it's very big. It's lined with wool, with synthetic fur along the edges. It seems very promising for keeping wind off my face.

I've already detached the hood. Partly for storage, and I don't anticipate needing the giant hood until about December.

Anyway, the coat was a great deal - I'll post pics as soon as I can.

In the mean time, here is the link to the coat. By the way - it was only $50...
